Filming On Location-Day 3

Today was our last day of filming. We were filming our protagonist (Hacker) today. We were filming on locations at the Hacker’s house, the road that leads up to the Hacker’s house, a road further away from the Hacker's house, and up by the Garages. Today’s filming was our busiest shooting schedule out of the three shooting days. Our actor turned up on time wearing the correct and appropriate clothes. The actor had worked well and co-operated with us well, also being very patient with us crew members filming.

In today’s shooting we shot the number of shots which were: 3-14, 25-26, 29-35, and 37. We used many different types of filming equipment, as our aims were to try and film shots that were high standard to make the film stand out and be more exciting, engaging our audience with the action more. The equipment we used for today’s filming were a tripod, a dolly, a camera, steadi cam, tracking dolly.

The problems that occurred during this day of filming was firstly being the main one which was the transporting of the filming equipment. This became a difficulty for all of us crew members, as not all the equipment could be transported in one journey. This was when we were picking up the filming equipment that we had booked out for today’s shooting.

There were also small and minor issues with the constant weather changes in between filming of different shots. This became a minor worry for us crew members, but we were able to manage this issue by just waiting for the weather to change, so that the weather would stay the same when the shots cut from one straight to the one after. This was so there were no continuity errors.

There were some small difficulty filming all of today’s shots but it was only minor difficulties we crew members were facing and were able to manage them all easily.

Filming On Location-Day 2

On day two of filming we were filming an establishing shot of the Hacker’s house. Our crew members all turned on time. To do this establishing shot we decided to use a crane shot. The equipment we used to do this was a crane, a monitoring kit and a camera.

We were all hoping to achieve a smooth and steady establishing shot of the Hacker’s House at the right speed. What went well with this shot was we filmed a steady and smooth crane shot of the house with no wobbles.

The issues that occurred were sometimes when we were all having a go at attempting these establishing using the crane was that we lifted the crane up too fast and too slow at times.

Another issue that occurred was that our monitoring kit had no charge in it so we were unable to use this equipment to view our shot as were filming it at the same time. This unfortunately slowed down the whole process, and we were tight on time.

Later on during the day we now ready to film another scene this time just doing a still shot using a tripod and camera. This was to film a close up shot of our Mystery Man showing his face close up. What went well with this shot was that we were able to film him speaking.

The only issues that occurred during this were that sometimes our Mystery Man actor had forgotten his lines. We overcame this issue as we gave our actor time to go over his lines so he was then able to say lines by memory.

Filming On Location-Day 1

On day one we were shooting on location at the Hacker’s house (Jack’s House). Our actor turned up on time wearing the correct and appropriate clothing, this made it easier for us the crew as we were able to film on time. All of our crew also turned up in time. The shot numbers we were hoping to get done were numbers 15-24, 27-28 and 36. We were filming our antagonist which was our Business man, using the following shot types:

 1) Dolly Shot
 2) Panning Shot

For the dolly shot we used a tripod and a wheel dolly. We placed the camera on top of the tripod which was on the wheel dolly. No problems occurred assembling this equipment together. We filmed the Business Man walking on the path. The reason for using this equipment for filming our antagonist was to try and be able to achieve a smooth shot of him walking without any wobbles or slips in the shot. This shot went very well and therefore our objective for this shot was complete. The equipment needed in order to film a panning shot was a tripod and a camera. This shot was used to cut from the dolly shot, so that the camera pans round showing him walking off the pathway up the drive. This shot cuts straight away from the dolly shot so that there is match on action.

The issues that occurred during today’s shooting were caused by the weather. There were two main problems which were caused by this. Due to the weather on this day being quite windy, it at times caused the tripod to lose stability which means it was wobbling causing the camera to also wobble which ended in a wobbly and unsteady shot. We overcame this issue when one of our crew members had tight grip on the tripod holding it to keep it balanced and preventing it from falling over.

The second issue which occurred was the change in weather as in relation to when the sun was behind the clouds and out of the clouds when filming a later scene. We re-filmed it and overcame this issue by waiting for the weather to change in order for it to be the same as it was before in thje previous shot, so there were no continuity mistakes.
